Kalay cholay/ chanay Black chickpeas is great dish for iftar table. Black chickpeas chaat is one of Pakistanis favorite food made with chickpeas and other spices. It is different from other chaats because it is slightly cooked. Kala chana can be cooked in many different ways and one of those ways is what I am going to share with you!
So, I never tried making these Kalay cholay before until I got a request from a viewer and a friend Tehmina, and I immediately called my mom for this recipe. She makes in every ramadan, and everyone in family loves it. So today I am sharing my mom's recipe of these kalay cholay
Those babies are black chickpeas. Or Kala Chana. Or Bengal Gram. (So many names!)
They look a lot like regular chickpeas only they're smaller and darker. They're dark brown when dried and they lighten up a little when cooked. They're a little heartier than white chickpeas and not quite as creamy.
