French Loaf

Very common bread in south Asia... today I made this bread with

1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp yeast
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
1 tsp butter
1/2 cup water +-

Egg white for brushing
corn starch/ corn flour to sprinkle

first in a bowl take about 1/4 cup of luke warm water add yeast and a pinch of flour and a pinch of sugar... and let it stand for 10 minutes... it will be a frothy mixture as soon as yeast get activated... which means your yeast is ready to use

sift flour add, yeast mixture, salt, sugar and butter and knead it with warm water till form a soft dough...

be careful in adding water... as mixture forms a ball... put it on a flat surface and knead it for 8 - 10 minutes

more you knead best you get the result

cover and leave it to get double

when it gets double in size... punch it back ... knead it once...

roll and give it a rectangular shape

then roll the rectangle shape piece like a swiss roll very tightly - as seen in the picture

After given it a shape put it on a greased tray... cover again with kitchen towel or cling and leave it for second rise.. at least 20 minutes...

then brush it with egg white and sprinkle corn flour and put in oven

take it out in between... brush egg white one more time and repeat sprinkling corn flour

Bake it for 30 - 35 minutes until you see a golden color on top on 350 F/180 C
