French Toast

French toast is a dish of bread soaked in eggs then fried.... slices of bread are soaked or dipped in mixture of beaten eggs, often with milk or cream... slices of egg-coated bread are then fried on both sides until they are browned and cooked through....  day-old bread is often recommended because the stale bread will soak up more egg mixture without falling apart... these cooked slices are often topped with jam, marmalade, butter, honey, maple syrup, golden syrup, fruit flavored syrup, molasses, apple sauce, or other similar toppings...
milk/half and half  1 cup
eggs 3
honey 2 tbsp, (warmed in microwave for 20 seconds)
salt 1/4 tsp
bread slices - 8 (day-old preferred)
butter 4 tbsp

In medium size mixing bowl, whisk together the milk/half and half, eggs, honey, and salt... (you may do this the night before)

preheat oven to 375 F/190 C....

dip bread into mixture, allow to soak for 30 seconds on each side...

and then remove to a cooling rack that is sitting in a sheet pan... and allow to sit for 1 to 2 minutes.

over medium-low heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in non-stick saute pan...

place slices of bread at a time into the pan and cook until golden brown, approximately 2 to 3 minutes per side.,..

remove from pan and place on rack in oven for 5 minutes

repeat with all 8 slices... serve immediately.. I served with maple syrup, whipped cream and fruits
