Arvi Gosht اروی گوشت recipe by morEwish

 



Wonderfully aromatic, super cozy, and filled with delicious and nutritious ingredients  – tender chunks of meat and Arvi aka Taro root. This Classic Pakistani style Arvi Gosht is a recipe that never goes out of style.






Arvi Gosht is a slow cooked Pakistani style salan or a gravy which is made with arvi and meat flavoured with some aromatic ethinic ingredients which imparts delectable flavour. All good things here, stewing in that perfectly hearty, rich gravy.







Arvi /Arbi aka Taro root this vegetable is known by various other names in different languages. Arvi, when cooked, steamed or boiled has a sweet and nutty taste. It is an ideal food, which has various potential health benefits. With very low calorie content and high in nutrients, arvi can actually help in losing weight.

You can serve Arvi gosht with naan, chapati roti or some steamed rice, with side of kachumber salad, which my family makes with chopped onions, green chili, cilantro and freshly sueezed lemon juice.

Ingredients: 


Meat 1 lb, goat, beef or veal (preferbally with bones)
Arvi or Taro root 250 gms
Onion - 2 medium sized, sliced
Yogurt 1 cup
Salt 1 teaspoon - or according to your taste
Red chili powder - 1 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Garlic - 1 teaspoon
Ginger - 1 teaspoon
Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
Oil for cooking 1/2 to 1 cup
