Dahi Channa chat has very different recipes in every house hold... I usually make them on brunches or as a high tea snack - light and yummy to have... dahi baray with chick peas and with tamarind sauce makes it tangy and sweet...so though to share it with you guys... Ramazan are not too far so you all can try it... so ingredients are:
Dahi baray:
Gram flour (besan) 1 tbsp heaped
Flour (maida) 1 tbsp heaped
salt a pinch
baking soda 1/4 tsp
baking pd 1/4 tsp
yogurt 1 cup
sugar 6 tsp
tamarind Sauce:
tamarind paste 1 tsp
water 1 cup
salt 1/4 tsp
sugar 8 - 10 tsp
Chick peas
chat masala for sprinkling
To start with first make Dahi bara... for that... in a bowl take gram flour, flour, salt, baking soda and baking pd and make a thick paste with water...
Drop batter with a spoon in hot oil... and fry them till golden brown
and soak them in water...for about 2-4 minutes till they soak water and become soft
Separately whip yogurt and add sugar in it
Then take the soaked piece in palm... squeeze them with other palm and add in the whipped sweet yogurt
Do the same with all patties add them in sweetened yogurt
Cover them care fully with yogurt..and keep them in the fridge
if you make extra... after squeezing them you can freeze them for future use
place the squeezed patties in plastic freezer bag... when ever you want them again... just thaw them and add in yogurt
Now, for tamarind sauce:
here we get paste...so i used that... if u have pulp so you can use that with lesser water
cook everything in a pot till sugar mixed properly
taste and adjust sugar..and keep it aside
Now, assembling and serving....
place the dahi bara on serving plate
scatter chick peas over it
pour the tamarind sauce around 2-3 tbsp or according to your taste
sprinkle chat masala over it... and serve :)
