Zarda


Pure Desi Style sweet rice... serve with other mitai's/sweets and nuts.... and I made it after ages upon hubby's request... 

rice 1 cup (washed and soaked)
green cardamons 4 
cloves 2-3
sugar 3/4 - 1 cup (adjust according to your taste)
ghee 2 - 4 tbsp
blanched almonds 5-6
blanched pistachio 2 tbsp
orange color 1/4 tsp

boil rice with cloves, 1 cardamon and orange color.... cook completely 


when done, strain and keep them aside


in other pot, heat ghee add cardamons and let it splutter..


add sugar and some water, let the sugar cook in this water....it will turn all foamy.... carefully add rice and turn, mixing with a light hand... cover and cook on lower heat

check after 10 minutes...rice should be nice and non sticky 


if there is still some sugar syrup to be seen, cover and let it sit on steam(dum) again for another 5 mins.

uncover and check ... dish out, garnish with almonds and pistachio... serve hot... Enjoy :)
